Raw Result: John Cena def. Seth Rollins (US Title Rematch)

Kane Returns with a Plan?
Thanks to the oddly pleasant machinations of a suit-clad Kane — still acting as the suit-wearing Director of Operations and sporting a perky demeanor that left The Authority baffled, bumfuzzled and altogether confused — Seth Rollins found himself in a U.S. Title rematch against John Cena. He was not entirely prepared for it, but “The Man” still mounted a solid attempt to resume his historic status as a dual titleholder after only a 24-hour break.
Unfortunately, “attempt” was about as far as he got. Despite mugging The Champ before the bell even rang and landing a bull’s-eye Frog Splash, a retaliatory Attitude Adjustment spelled the end for Rollins. At that point, Kane appeared on the TitanTron, giving Rollins a friendly corporate warning that his WWE World Heavyweight Title was being targeted by a Superstar of nightmarish proportions. Cue the fire from the stage and the re-emergence of Kane, fully transformed into The Devil’s Favorite Demon, as he climbed through a hole in the ring that he also dragged Rollins into — after a brief, if futile, struggle. Out of the frying pan, into the … well, you know.

Seth Rollins vs. John Cena (For the US Title)
Though his quest for a 16th World Championship has been put on hold, John Cena’s waist is no longer undecorated. The Cenation leader dethroned Seth Rollins with an Attitude Adjustment to reclaim the United States Championship at WWE Night of Champions.
Though Rollins had a WWE World Heavyweight Championship battle with Sting still ahead, he did not hold back in bringing the fight right to Cena, stunning the 15-time World Champion with a flipping neckbreaker in the early moments of the match. The confident Architect trash-talked his challenger before catching a big right hand to the jaw. Rollins stopped Cena’s attempted offense in its tracks with a sleeper hold, then attempted to cave Cena’s chest in with a devastating double stomp off the top turnbuckle.
Perhaps seeking to save his energy for his showdown with The Vigilante, Rollins turned his attention to the sold-out crowd in Houston, taunting the WWE Universe. That nearly cost the United States Champion his title, as Cena nearly pinned him with a surprise roll-up.
Rollins looked to be a step ahead of Cena as the bout wore on, cutting Cena off before he could hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on several occasions. The Cenation leader fought back, preventing Rollins from hitting the Pedigree, while surprising the WWE Universe with several moves outside of his trademark arsenal, including a flipping powerbomb and a hurricanrana.
Cena looked to have Rollins in position for an Attitude Adjustment, but the United States Champion flipped , landed on his feet and staggered Cena with a series of superkicks. The Architect brought the fight to Cena on the floor, connecting with a dive over the ropes, but ate canvas on an attempted frog splash.
The resilient Cena refused to give in, catching Rollins with a tornado DDT off the ropes before rolling to the apron to collect himself. A desperate Rollins trapped Cena as he scaled the ropes, suplexing his challenger to the mat, then holding on and lifting the heavier Cena up for a second consecutive suplex. Rollins may have thought he had the 15-time World Champion on the ropes, but the wily veteran soon trapped the champion in the STF.

Raw Result: John Cena & Sting def. Seth Rollins & Big Show
Video: Two Victories For Sting
Seth Rollins Taken Care Of
Backstage an anxious Seth Rollins greets Stephanie & Triple H, Seth is impressed that Sting will be taken care of after he threw Seth’s statue in the trash truck. However, Seth wants Cena & Sheamus out of his hair as well. Triple H states, “Seth I think you just solved your own problem.” Seth realizes he just created a match – John Cena vs. Sheamus.
Tag Team Main Event
Make that two wins for The Stinger. Moments after Sting’s battle with Big Show was reorganized in a tag match teaming Sting with John Cena and Seth Rollins with Show, The Authority’s foot soldiers got their wind back when Cena found himself crushed like a jellybean under the giant’s boot.
Miraculously, the Cenation leader survived long enough to tag in Sting, and The Icon ran roughshod over a thoroughly unprepared Rollins, executing a Scorpion Death Drop on The Architect after Cena dispatched an interfering Big Show with an Attitude Adjustment. With Rollins reeling, Sting sealed the deal by rolling “The Man” into a Scorpion Deathlock and achieving a near-instant submission. Better luck Sunday, champ.

Sting calls out Rollins
Challenge Seth Rollins for his WWE World Heavyweight Title? Sure, why not. That’s part of the gig. Hell, he’ll even tolerate a second challenger. But enough is enough, and “The Man” wants his statue back from Sting, who pulled a disappearing act with The Architect’s monument two weeks ago and has been holding it hostage ever since. So Rollins’ first order of business in Baltimore was to retrieve his effigy from The Vigilante. So imagine his surprise when Sting actually responded to his frothing ramblings by displaying the statue, hidden in an undisclosed location, and dared Rollins to come and get it.
Oh, and if that wasn’t enough for Rollins to worry about, Sheamus all but called his shot on a Money in the Bank cash-in at Night of Champions. Then The Authority slotted him for a pair of contests — a Champion vs. Champion bout against Ryback, and a Champions vs. Challengers showdown that would team him and The New Day against John Cena & The Prime Time Players. Just another day in the life of “The Man.”
Seth vs. Ryback
Another win for The Big Guy! Even with Kevin Owens seemingly lurking in the wings, Ryback rode his trademark intensity — and a timely assist from Sting — to upend Seth Rollins himself in the first of The Architect’s two Authority-mandated Raw contests. But even before The Icon resurfaced, the Champion vs. Champion contest was almost all Ryback. The Human Wrecking Ball beat Rollins to and fro with impunity until The Architect rammed him face-first into the ring post and steps.
Rollins set to work, systematically picking The Big Guy apart, coming within a hair’s breadth of a pinfall before Sting appeared on the TitanTron to taunt the champ. That was all Ryback needed to spring with a small package, earning a pinfall that left Rollins twitching with rage in the ring, though not as much as The Vigilante appeared again to affix a Sting mask to Rollins’ statue.
Unusual Tag Teams
Sept. 20 is Night of Champions, but Sept. 7 was Night of Challengers as John Cena & The Prime Time Players united to defeat a trio that, together, holds four of WWE’s six championships. That’s a pretty solid day’s labor — especially for The Prime Time Players, who’ll challenge The New Day for the Tag Titles on the season premiere of Raw next week. After The New Day ran roughshod over Cena, Titus O’Neil and Darren Young tagged in and the groundwork for the 15-time World Champion to swoop in and win the day with an Attitude Adjustment to Kofi Kingston.
And then, Sting reappeared again, Seth Rollins’ statue still in tow and bad intentions on his mind. Given that Rollins never came to find him, The Vigilante revealed his whereabouts to be the arena loading dock, where he tossed the statue into the bed of a garbage truck, crushed it into powder, and cruised off into the night. Rollins made a point of displaying his two titles to reinforce his continued dominance — he is still Seth Freakin’ Rollins after all. But, alas, he’s got no freakin’ statue.

Seth Rollins Celebrates Making History
Seth Rollins was in his usual boastful form on SmackDown, gloating about his greatness and going so far to say Hollywood stars like Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum would line up to play him in a movie about his story. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion also clearly still tasted some sour grapes as he claimed that Sting was jealous of him.
A fired up Rollins then guaranteed that he will not only defeat The Icon at Night of Champions in their WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match, but he would also finish what Triple H started and crush The Stinger’s “old bones to dust.”
