Kevin Owens def. Seth Rollins (for the WWE Universal Title)
The Kevin Owens Show rolls on. The longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion of all time will extend his record now that Owens has defeated Seth Rollins in his first title defense at WWE Clash of Champions. That being said, Owens should probably send a fruit basket or something to his “best friend,” Chris Jericho, who teed The Prizefighter up for the maneuver that ultimately put Rollins away.

All of which is to say The Architect should be doubly bitter over this loss, since he had promised to prove he was still “The Man” in WWE to Raw General Manager Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon (who he still held responsible for Triple H’s betrayal), and Rollins made good on that promise for the entirety of the match. Owens put up a smothering front, but Rollins hung tough, battling back from an attack that focused on his repaired knee and hitting Owens with a Frog Splash after K.O. accidentally put himself through the Spanish announce table.

That was when Jericho, in a “Kevin Owens Show” shirt and his signature scarf, sprinted to ringside and swung the match, setting off a scuffle that ended in the referee getting, well, KO’ed. Not only did Rollins hit a Pedigree that went unrecorded by an official (the audience managed a 15-count, though), he was forced to fight off both Jericho and Owens before Stephanie sent out a replacement ref. By then, however, Owens was ready to go, and quickly put Rollins down with a Pop-up Powerbomb that Stephanie observed with an inscrutable expression from the entrance ramp. Redesigned. Rebuilt. Denied

Finn Bálor first stepped in a WWE ring as a Raw Superstar four weeks ago. Tonight at SummerSlam, he left the squared circle as the first WWE Universal Champion, defeating Seth Rollins with the Coup de Grace to capture the new title and building to a legacy of success that’s spanned Europe, Japan and NXT. Moments before history was made, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and General Manager Mick Foley unveiled the new WWE Universal Championship. And then the mind-games began as The Demon King stalked to the ring through a thick cloud of red smoke with a neon green tongue painted on his chest and a giant eye on his back.
Rollins could not get away from his opponent early on. Bálor blindsided him when the opening bell rang. When Rollins rolled to the outside to catch his breath, Bálor caught him with a senton over the top rope. He then began to target Rollins’ surgically repaired left knee. Bálor had Rollins reeling, until “The Man” powerbombed his opponent into the ringside barricade, flipping momentum entirely.

Seth Searches for the Demon King & Meets Him Face to Face In the Ring
If there’s one thing to be said about Seth Rollins, it’s that he can certainly talk the talk. And “The Man” certainly made a big show out of scouring the backstage area for Finn Bálor in an attempt to coax “The Demon King” persona into a fight before they battle for the WWE Universal Championship on Sunday. And even though he only took his quest to the ring under pressure from Mick Foley, The Architect certainly didn’t hold back in his second consecutive round of trash talk.

That is, until the Irishman revealed his infernal alter ego in full. And though Rollins didn’t tuck tail and run the second Bálor appeared in the ring, he certainly didn’t get the better of the transformed Superstar. The Demon King unloaded a series of kicks on his foe, and while Rollins dodged the Coup de Grâce, he was sent reeling from an over-the-top-rope dive all the same.

Seth Rollins Debuts “The Rollins Report”
Before Raw even began, a mischievous Rollins let everyone know he would have news on Roman Reigns that would change the WWE as we all know it. And later it was announced tonight would be the first episode of “The Rollins Report”. And when the time arrived Seth was quick to tell all other TV hosts to move over as he is the newest, hottest investigative reporter. He then ordered a clip to be played that looked as though an immature teenager put it together in which Roman Reigns claims to not deserve the opportunity in the title match at Battleground.

Seth continues to rant when the camera comes back to him until he is interrupted by Dean Ambrose and the real fireworks start. With a ton of history between them Seth fires first at Ambrose saying he believes Ambrose’s title reign is a joke, that he was better than him in the Shield as well as before the Shield and will once again prove he is the best. Ambrose tells Seth that they’ve known each other a very long time and Seth should know god himself or Vince McMahon would have to pry the title out of his cold dead hands. Dean also yells at Seth that he can have a one on one title match vs. Ambrose any day. At first Rollins says that Detroit sounds perfect to him but decides on next week and angrily storms out of the ring.

After commercial break it is announced that Seth will face Dean Ambrose next week live on Raw for the WWE Championship.
