Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho – Rematch (WWE YouTube)

Seth Rollins def. Chris Jericho
We begin this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, Kevin once again proclaiming that Raw is the Kevin Owens Show and Jericho contemplating adding more names to his infamous list. Seth eventually interrupts their party and mock Jericho’s scarf (saying it should be added to the list) and declaring Jericho “sparkle crotch” because of the rhinestones on his tights. The fans seem to agree and begin to chant the new nickname, as Jericho yells in anger “I’m not sparkle crotch!” Seth decides to once again challenge Chris Jericho to a match, since he figures he can so easily beat Seth. He then tells Jericho he should tell Kevin Owens to go backstage. Jericho and Owens bicker for a few moments, but ultimately they hug and Owens leaves the arena.

Seth vs. Jericho kicks off into full swing and Jericho seems hell bent on destroying Seth. But Seth Rollins resilient as ever is apply to rally after the commercial break. He is about to pull of some sort of high risk move from the top ropes, when Kevin Owens decides to reappear on the scene. The distraction disrupts the match, and ultimately Seth manages to pin the distracted Jericho following a pedigree.

Seth Rollins def. Chris Jericho (Keeps one on one match vs. Kevin Owens at HIAC)
Last night, SmackDown LIVE’s pay-per-view No Mercy put on a show-stealing Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Championship. Raw, it appears, will not be able to mount one of its own at WWE Hell in a Cell, since Chris Jericho failed to defeat Seth Rollins and win his way into a WWE Universal Championship that will now be contested inside the Cell itself. That’s got to sting for Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon’s competitive instincts, but it’s also got to sting for Jericho, who would have been a very real threat to his “best friend” Kevin Owens’ title had he been able to win the match.

One Superstar who isn’t upset? Seth Rollins, who gets to keep KO one-on-one and receives a momentum boost in the process. The victory was made even sweeter by the fact that The Architect had to battle back from the beating Jericho put on his recently injured ribs. Even a behind-the-ref superkick from a ringside Owens wasn’t enough to keep “The Man” down, as Rollins took out KO with a suicide dive and felled Jericho with an inside-cradle reversal of the Walls of Jericho. Owens didn’t wait to put a beating on Rollins after the match, but Jericho was quick to both save KO from a Pedigree and, ultimately, take one of his own while Owens, again, did nothing to stop it.

Seth Rollins Backstage Interview with Michael Cole
Seth Rollins had some choice words for Kevin Owens in the before Raw interview with Michael Cole. He restates the fact that he thinks Kevin’s “Redesign, Replace” slogan is a joke and that he plans to take apart the new era of Raw piece by piece, beginning with Owens and the Universal Title of course. Seth says that everyone should know already that he isn’t replaceable.

Seth Interrupts Jericho & Owens vs. The New Day
It was going swimmingly for Jeri-KO for a while. Facing Xavier Woods (who made The List of Jericho twice in one night and subbed for a stitched-up Kofi Kingston) and Big E, the self-proclaimed best friends were firing on all cylinders. At least, until Seth Rollins appeared atop the ring and Woods nailed KO with an enzuigiri. A reeling Owens tagged Jericho and, once Woods was trapped in the Walls of Jericho, Rollins distracted The Ayatollah of Rock ’n’ Rolla, allowing New Day to pounce with the Midnight Hour. Owens, for his part, barely even waited for the bell to hit the road, and didn’t interfere when Rollins nailed Jericho with a Pedigree. Some friend he is.

Seth is Confronted by Stephanie McMahon Backstage
Following his taste of revenge against Chris Jericho, a cheerful Seth is approached by Stephanie McMahon. She comes to question his behavior and the fact that he isn’t supposed to even be at Raw, given his injured condition. Seth simply shrugs her off and even acts non-nonchalant when Stephanie tries to get into his head; she repeats several times that he is alone with no one now to help him. Seth doesn’t seem too concerned and has no intentions of listening to Stephanie any longer. He says if she won’t give him a rematch, he will make her life hell. He tells her she lost the right to tell him what to do when Triple H made the second worst decision of his life (to betray Seth). When questioned as to what Triple H’s worst decision was, Seth tells the first lady of WWE Triple H’s biggest mistake was marrying her. Seth glares in her face and storms off, making it clear he will not rest until he gets yet another chance to take down the new era.

Kevin Owens def. Seth Rollins (for the WWE Universal Title)
The Kevin Owens Show rolls on. The longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion of all time will extend his record now that Owens has defeated Seth Rollins in his first title defense at WWE Clash of Champions. That being said, Owens should probably send a fruit basket or something to his “best friend,” Chris Jericho, who teed The Prizefighter up for the maneuver that ultimately put Rollins away.

All of which is to say The Architect should be doubly bitter over this loss, since he had promised to prove he was still “The Man” in WWE to Raw General Manager Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon (who he still held responsible for Triple H’s betrayal), and Rollins made good on that promise for the entirety of the match. Owens put up a smothering front, but Rollins hung tough, battling back from an attack that focused on his repaired knee and hitting Owens with a Frog Splash after K.O. accidentally put himself through the Spanish announce table.

That was when Jericho, in a “Kevin Owens Show” shirt and his signature scarf, sprinted to ringside and swung the match, setting off a scuffle that ended in the referee getting, well, KO’ed. Not only did Rollins hit a Pedigree that went unrecorded by an official (the audience managed a 15-count, though), he was forced to fight off both Jericho and Owens before Stephanie sent out a replacement ref. By then, however, Owens was ready to go, and quickly put Rollins down with a Pop-up Powerbomb that Stephanie observed with an inscrutable expression from the entrance ramp. Redesigned. Rebuilt. Denied

Seth Rollins vs. Rusev (Double Count-out)
What with his ravishing bride, U.S. Championship and two weddings, it’s hard to imagine Rusev as being short-changed in any way. Yet that was exactly the feeling of The Bulgarian Brute, who was fuming over his U.S. Title Match against Roman Reigns on Sunday and decided to take it out on a heavily overpowered Seth Rollins in Raw’s opening contest. The two-time WWE World Champion was subject to all manner of physicality from The Super Athlete, and it seemed, early on, like Rusev would (wait for it) crush Rollins before he even made it to Clash of Champions by targeting his lower back.

But, of course, they don’t call Rollins “The Architect” for nothin’. A worked-over Rollins tapped into his speed, peppering his foe with kicks, forearms and just enough power moves to close the gap. A pair of suicide dives sent Rusev stumbling out of the ring and Rollins pursued his foe past the count of 10, stopping the match. But even though the match might have ended in a tie, The Architect got the last laugh by avoiding a powerbomb through the commentary table and flattening Rusev with a crossbody off the stage.

Seth Risks It All for Revenge (After the Main Event)
Even on The Kevin Owens Show, Kevin Owens can’t win ’em all. The WWE Universal Champion’s main-event battle with Roman Reigns didn’t quite end as well as last week’s did, though the victory was hardly as decisive as Reigns would have preferred. After dishing and absorbing an equal amount of punishment, The Big Dog and The Prizefighter both resorted to escape attempts from the cage. Reigns, who climbed over, won by the skin of his teeth against Owens, who attempted to crawl through the door.

Things really got interesting after the match, however, as Rusev thundered down to the ring and, with Owens’ help, incapacitated Reigns inside the cage and locked the door. Enter Seth Rollins, who scaled the side of the steel and took to the skies, flattening Owens and Rusev with a crossbody off the top of the cage, leaving everyone down as Raw came to an end. Like we said, they don’t call him The Architect for nothin’.
