Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose def. The Hardys
The band is back together, and the dream matches have already begun. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins opened their unlikely Raw Tag Team Title reign by declaring the evening to be a “party” and inviting any team in the locker room to step to them, seemingly expecting Cesaro & Sheamus to come looking for a rematch. Instead, they got a gentleman’s challenge from The Hardy Boyz, and it was exactly as epic as you might have imagined. (Cesaro & Sheamus scouted from the locker room.)

The Most Exhilarating Tag Team In History didn’t just hang with the younger tandem, they came awfully close to defeating the new champions after Matt Hardy hit The Lunatic Fringe with the Twist of Fate to tee him up for Jeff Hardy’s Swanton Bomb. However, Rollins superkicked Matt right after Jeff tagged in, and Ambrose got his knees up to block the Swanton, leaving The Charismatic Enigma alone to suffer the one-two combo of Rollins’ ripcord knee and a match-ending Dirty Deeds.

Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose def. Sheamus & Cesaro (For the Tag Team Titles)
With The Lunatic Fringe briefly kayoed, Sheamus metaphorically tore Rollins to pieces, while Cesaro leapt over the outside barricade and literally tore apart a beach ball that had been making its way through the capacity crowd. Even though Ambrose roused to life and helped get his team back in the match, “The Bar” held a narrow advantage by the skin of their fingertips. Even as Ambrose & Rollins got more and more innovative, the titles remained just beyond their reach, usually because either Cesaro or Sheamus saved the other from disaster. (The King of Swing had the biggest save of all, bailing Sheamus out of a potential double powerbomb.) Now, it was Ambrose who found himself isolated and trapped in Cesaro’s Sharpshooter after Sheamus flattened Rollins with a rolling senton to the outside. The champs took full advantage of the two-on-one, hitting a top-rope clothesline-powerbomb combo and landing a cheap shot after a brief distraction of the referee.

This wasn’t exactly overwhelming to The Lunatic Fringe, who all but dared the champions to hit him with their best shot. So, they did, setting him up for a double-team White Noise variation. But the move never hit home. Rollins repaid Ambrose’s earlier assault and rose to life, connecting with a springboard hurricanrana that hurled Cesaro into his partner, then superkicking both champs and blasting the legal man Sheamus with his ripcord knee to the face. Ambrose provided the finishing touch to The Alabaster Gladiator, hitting Dirty Deeds to break “The Bar” and win the Raw Tag Team Titles.
Given that the new titleholders celebrated their win with the old-school Shield fist bump, allow us to sum it up in the only way that feels appropriate: “November, Echo, Whiskey, Charlie, Hotel, Alpha, Mike, Papa, Sierra.”

Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose Re-Unite
After a tense couple weeks between the two former Shield members, the two met in the ring at the start of Raw for an equally tense meeting. Seth starts off by accusing Dean Ambrose of lying, Seth believes Dean wants a reunion and he knows Dean realizes they could take over “this place.” Seth then extends his fist, but Dean just glowers at it. He shouts at Seth “are you kidding me?!” Dean rants about Seth making him look like a fool last week after he put himself on the line. Seth tells Dean he understands the mistrust as sometimes he doesn’t even trust himself.

Seth says he knows that perhaps their differences are what made them a powerful team and that they could without a doubt dominate the division, but he also questions whether this reunion is a bad idea. Seth goes to walk out of the ring, but is interrupted by a slap on his shoulder by Dean who now extends his fist to Seth. Seth goes to refuse and walk away, but this sparks a shoving war and soon both men are in a full on fight. They take each other down in the ring and exchange fists, Seth gets up and leaps onto Ambrose’s back and the two end up outside of the ring on the floor. They briefly go after each other on the outside before collapsing and being interrupted by some familiar music. The tag team champions arrive in full force with the intent to destroy the Shield reunion of sorts before it even gets started.

Old habits die hard though, Dean and Seth easily rally to work in tandem to knock both champions out of the ring, and send them packing! Fired up the two celebrate in the ring and stare each other down. They finally shove their fists together in their signature stance! The crowd explodes for the reunion they have been waiting for. Soon after Kurt Angle’s music hits and he announces a match between Seth/Dean vs. The Tag Team Champions. Seth and Dean remain posed fist bumping and grinning ear to ear as Raw goes to commercial break.

Sheamus def. Seth Rollins
Say what you will about Dean Ambrose; the man keeps his promises.

The Lunatic Fringe told Seth Rollins he was done bailing out his former brother-in-arms last week, and he stayed true to his word in emphatic fashion during The Architect’s rematch with Sheamus on Raw. Whereas Rollins surprised the Raw Tag Team Champion last week, The Alabaster Gladiator reversed his fortunes in Round 2, pinning Rollins with a roll-up of his own off an assist from Cesaro.
The cohesive Raw Tag Team Champions proceeded to lay a lengthy beating on Rollins after the match — one that only got worse when they realized that Ambrose would not be coming to the rescue.

Seth Rollins Saves Dean Ambrose
Say what you will about Seth Rollins; he won’t leave a man hanging.
Despite Dean Ambrose refusing to come to The Kingslayer’s aid after his match against Sheamus, Rollins lent Ambrose a hand after The Lunatic Fringe found himself in hot water of his own with the Raw Tag Team Champions. The main difference was that Ambrose had won his match, an epic, scientific affair with Cesaro wherein the two Superstars traded a wide array of old-school holds and locks before they broke out the heavy artillery.

Down to the wire, The Lunatic Fringe won off a roll-up, and when the champs swarmed him, Rollins arrived to drive them back. Ambrose was seemingly won over by The Architect’s actions and offered him the customary Shield fist bump, but Rollins left him high and dry this time around. Turnabout is fair play.

No one ever wants to suffer an injury, especially one as big as the one Seth Rollins experienced in November 2015. He was on a roll at the time and arguably the biggest heel in the WWE. Rollins was riding high. Then during an overseas match with Kane, his momentum came to a halt as he tore the ACL, MCL and medial meniscus in his knee. It would be more than seven months before “The Architect” returned to the ring.

There was a positive as he was offered a role in the WWE Studios movie “Armed Response” and now had the time to do it.
The movie, which also stars Wesley Snipes and Anne Heche, finds Rollins and a team of highly trained soldiers looking into the disappearance of another team. As they investigate, they find themselves trapped inside a military compound controlled by artificial intelligence and things quickly get out of control.

Sporting News spoke with Rollins about being in his first feature film, fighting Anne Heche, recovering from his knee injury during filming, becoming a good guy in WWE, and getting the cover of the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game. “Armed Response” will be available on digital download and limited theatrical release beginning on Friday, August 4.

SPORTING NEWS: How was the movie making experience for “Armed Response” for you overall seeing this is the first feature film you’ve done?
SETH ROLLINS: Yeah, this is the first one. It was cool. Honestly, it was a good experience. I had no idea what it was going to be like going in. I had no preconceptions or anything like that. I was going in with an open mind and it was a lot different than what I’m used to doing live shows all the time. It was super-interesting and a fun experience, a learning experience for me.

SN: How would you explain this movie is someone asked you? Is it a horror movie, it is a thriller?
SR: I’d call it more of a suspense-thriller. There are some elements of action and horror but that’s not the predominant theme. It’s more of a suspense thriller, a whodunit trying to figure out how the other Special Forces team was supposed to be manning this outpost and have gone missing. There’s a lot of elements of who, what, when, where, stuff like that.
