Samoa Joe Calls out The Shield
Samoa Joe incurred the wrath of The Shield last week, and the experience left him profoundly unimpressed. After managing to singlehandedly upend Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins’ bid for the Raw Tag Team Titles, The Samoan Submission Machine opened Team Red by unleashing a slew of insults in the direction of The Hounds of Justice — particularly in the direction of Roman Reigns, as part of Joe’s continuing efforts to goad the Intercontinental Champion into a fight.
He got what he was looking for, as Reigns answered Joe’s call, only to be waylaid by Cesaro & Sheamus, who instigated a brawl that also brought the remaining members of The Shield charging to the ring. Joe indeed got the better of Reigns in the scuffle with The Bar’s help, but Ambrose — scheduled to face Joe later in the night — was quick to pick up the slack, throwing hands with Joe until Cesaro & Sheamus intervened, dispatching Rollins and feeding The Lunatic Fringe into a Uranage that ended the fight on Joe’s terms.
Seth Rollins def. Sheamus
Score one for The Shield. In the first of three singles contests pitting The Hounds of Justice against Samoa Joe and The Bar, Seth Rollins landed the first blow in a victory over Sheamus despite a savage assault on Rollins’ knee from the Raw Tag Team Champion.
The Celtic Warrior soundly executed his game plan, grounding The Kingslayer and threatening to take away the efficiency of Rollins’ signature ripcord knee. When The Alabaster Gladiator applied the Cloverleaf, it seemed like a tapout was a foregone conclusion, but Rollins went to his agility and his speed, escaping the hold and delivering a one-legged superplex/Falcon Arrow combo to bring the bout to an even keel.
The move took as much out of Rollins as it did Sheamus, allowing the Irishman to tee him up for the Brogue Kick. The Architect had one more burst in him, though, stopping Sheamus cold with a superkick and landing the knee for the victory while Dean Ambrose watched backstage.
The Shield on Miz TV
The Shield all arrive on Miz TV when Roman gets invited to be the guest. Immediately Miz orders them to say thank you to him, since he is the one that initiated the entire Shield reunion. The Shield simply laugh and don’t give in to either that, or Miz’s request that he is owned some of the residuals from their merchandise sales. Seth comments that their merchandise is hot, but Ambrose doesn’t have his wallet today, so maybe another time. Seth decides to enlighten everyone on his and Dean’s intentions of regaining their tag team titles. When Roman interrupts, Seth tells him he doesn’t mean to leave him out, on the contrary he feels Miz has a title belt that is “nice and white and shiny.” Roman comments that he likes the belt and a challenge is made.
Bo Dallas then gets too big for his own good and tells The Shield that they can’t just walk onto the show and demand a match from “the man”, they have to go through them first. The Shield look at each other and chuckle. Immediately following, Roman’s fists connects with Bo Dallas. The Shield then demolish his partner Curtis Axel despite Axel’s pleading and point at his neck brace. With Bo left alone the Shield deliver their triple-bomb to make an extra statement to the Miz.
Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns are Victorious in their Matches
Following the opening segment, Seth happily joins Dean Ambrose at ringside for his match. Seth prevents Cesaro’s interference in the match and takes him out with a suicide dive when Cesaro gives him a cheap shot from behind. Seth celebrates with Dean following his victory and we don’t see Seth and Dean again until Roman’s match for the Intercontinental Title. The Shield would ultimately leave tonight celebrating Roman’s win.
The Shield Challenge New Day & Protect Kurt Angle
The Shield start off Raw well before the bell rings for their match as they come to the aid of Kurt Angle (who is at the receiving end of Stephanie McMahon’s verbal assault on his leadership skills). The Shield stick up for Angle and vouch for him before Stephanie turns her questions on them as well. Roman decides to turn it around on Stephanie and asks her where the hell she has been the past 6 months. He notes that all that happened to Stephanie was that she went through a table. Seth immediately starts shaking his head and acting like he has no idea what Roman is referring to. Of course we all know that Seth pushing Triple H, then caused Stephanie to fall through the table. Roman notes Seth’s expression and corrects his statement to “your husband pushed you through a table at WrestleMania.” Following the correction, Seth starts chuckling in the background. Roman then declares on behalf of the Shield that they do what they want and not what Stephanie wants. What the Shield wants is the New Day and their revenge for the loss of the tag titles. They put out the challenge to the New Day for Survivor Series and before the Raw episode is over we get the news that the New Day has accepted the challenge.
The Shield vs. The Bar & The Miz
The match turns out to be a short lived but active contest with Seth starting off the match against Cesaro. Dean and Seth pull out their trademark suicide dives to knock Cesaro and Sheamus to the floor and a game of chase ensues at ringside with the Miz. The Miz runs away off into the crowd and the Shield stand and taunt him as Raw goes to commercial break. Following the break, Seth is in the ring once more and nearly catches the win with a small package roll up. When he makes the tag to Roman all chaos breaks loose with Miz ending up receiving a spear and of course the triple powerbomb to the delight of the audience. The Shield takes the win and is on a roll going into Survivor Series with all three close together as the match ends.
Cesaro & Sheamus def. Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose – Outside Interference (For the Raw Tag Team Titles)
Given the rumors of a second SmackDown LIVE raid on Raw following the siege two weeks ago, it was no surprise that Team Blue once again crossed the battle lines. What was surprising was the way the blue brand intruders managed to change the complexion of Survivor Series’ head-to-head competition for brand supremacy by allowing Cesaro & Sheamus to supplant Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins as Raw Tag Team Champions.
Looking to prove themselves as more worthy representatives of Raw at Survivor Series than Ambrose & Rollins, The Bar (who arrived to their match in a full Liverpool kit) had successfully petitioned Kurt Angle for one final championship match against The Shield’s resident titleholders. They made good on the opportunity, too, battling to a standstill until a surprise appearance from The New Day threw everything into chaos.
Big E’s roar of “AWWW MANCHESTER” brought the action to a halt and ya boys entered through the crowd in SmackDown blue a la The Shield to announce the arrival of “Under Siege Part II,” which brought out Angle and the entire Raw roster to chase them off. Despite the chaos, however, the match had never ended, and The Celtic Warrior blasted Rollins with a wicked Brogue Kick in the confusion. Sheamus made the cover, Cesaro held Ambrose down, and new champions were crowned as Angle and The Shield looked on in disbelief. With Roman Reigns slated to return next week, The Hounds of Justice will have plenty of business on their plate. And as for The Bar? Well, on Sunday, Nov. 19, they’ll report to The Uso Penitentiary.
Kane def. Seth Rollins
Once upon a time, Kane was Seth Rollins’ bodyguard, backup and Director of Operations. These days, he’s Rollins’ tormentor.
Minutes after ruthlessly attacking SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan (another former ally), The Devil’s Favorite Demon showed no mercy to Rollins in a singles bout on Raw. Kane all but shut out The Kingslayer’s offense save for a late stretch that stymied The Big Red Machine momentarily, or at least until Cesaro & Sheamus jumped Dean Ambrose at ringside, causing Rollins to take his eye off the ball.
The Architect paid for his distraction with a Chokeslam that cost him the match, and a 3-on-2 assault of The Shield by Kane and The Bar nearly cost him much more than that, as The Big Red Machine administered a ruthless Tombstone to Ambrose. When Rollins attempted to crawl atop his partner to protect him, The Devil’s Favorite Demon Tombstoned him as well.
