Seth Rollins Reveals his dream match
Writer Credit: Vineet Ramakrishnan

Last year at WWE SummerSlam, Seth Rollins found himself at the cusp of history as he was in the main event to determine the inaugural WWE Universal Champion against Finn Balor, and even though the Architect came up short against the then hot favorite Balor. This year, Rollins may not be main eventing a stacked card, but he still has the chance to walk away with gold with his former Shield partner Dean Ambrose as they will vie for the RAW Tag Team Championships going up again the Champions – Shemus and Cesaro.
Ahead of the mega-event, Rollins, in a media interaction, talks about his childhood SummerSlam memories, his dream match and how the injury layoff helped him refocus.

What are your childhood SummerSlam memories?

Summerslam was a huge part of my childhood. Legendary matches like when Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior teamed up against Sgt. Slaughter and General Adnan (1991). Then (Randy) Savage got married. British Bulldog versus Bret Hart at Wmebly; the list goes on. Also, the TLC matches – The Hardys, Dudley Boys and Edge and Cristian. There are ton and tons of memories. Broak (Lesnar) versus vs The Rock; Rock’s retirement match for a while. These all are great memories and hopefully this year I can great more memories of my own.

What are your thoughts about SummerSlam?
SummerSlam is always huge. I look at it like it is Wrestlemania. We are going to Brooklyn, we are promoting throughout the week. And getting inside the Barclays Center will be amazing. The fans are crazy and one of the loudest and wildest building in the entire world. Lots of good memories and looking to do good. it is like mid-year Wrestlmania.

You have gone up against the greats in the business already. But if you had to who would you pick for you dream match?
I think, based on the shape he was in Wrestlemania couple of years ago, Shawn Michaels definitely got one match left in him. If he ever wants to come out of retirement, he will be be the guy I want to locks horns with because he was my idol.

You are back with Ambrose, a bit of a Shield reunion there, thinking back do you regret what you did to both Roman Reigns and Ambrose?
Do I regret what I did to Roman and Dean in the past? Well, a little bit, but also, I think it was kind of necessary. At the end of the day we all wanted to be World Champion. With the Shield staying, none of us would have had the opportunity. Now three years later, we all have been multiple time champions. It was kind of a defining moment for all of us and it set the ball rolling. Yes, I went about it the wrong way, but it was had fr it to go down some other way.

You are featured on the cover of WWE 2K18. How big is this for you?
I am very honoured to be on it. It is an incredible franchise they have put together over the years and with guys like Brock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, The Rock gracing the cover earlier, it is pretty elite company. I am just very happy and humbled to be chosen for the cover of the video game.

Going back a few years, how difficult was it for you to get injured while you were the WWE Champion and how did you deal with the Rehab process?
Injuries make you stronger. injuries are as much as part of winning and loss in this business. Any time you have significant injury, it is about the perspective; how you to attack it. For me that became for my goal. As opposed to winning the title, my goal per say became getting back to 100 per cent health and overcoming the obstacle and setting goals for it was a major part of the success.

How is the camaraderie among the wrestlers?
It is a family atmosphere. In the end, we all want the same thing and we all are on it. We spent more time together more than the family for most part of the year. If one of us goes down, it is one of the worst thing to happen but we are always there to pick that brother or sister back up. I have good friends and have known some of them for a long time and they help me push back up.
